Our journey: igniting sparks on and off the court

Discover the heart behind Sarasota Sparks Travel Basketball. Learn about our commitment to developing confident young athletes, fostering community, and growing together as a family.

Why we started sarasota sparks

Sarasota Sparks Travel Basketball began with a clear vision: to build girls' basketball in Sarasota. Our goal is for players to come together as a team, learn the game, and enjoy quality family time at tournaments. We believe that today's youth are our future, and basketball serves as a powerful vessel for life lessons. It's a conduit to nurture future generations, build confidence, create unity in our local community, and inspire love and service towards God and others.

Beyond the score: impact that lasts

While winning is always a goal, our true measure of success extends far beyond the scoreboard. At Sarasota Sparks, we prioritize gaining wisdom through shared learning experiences and actively volunteering in the community. We strive to impact the lives of those less fortunate, both in our local communities and across the wider world. Being part of our team means developing character, leadership, and a commitment to service that players will carry with them throughout their lives.

The sparks family experience

Spend a day with the Sarasota Sparks, and you'll immediately feel the warmth of family. Our practice sessions are safe spaces where players, from beginners to elite athletes, can grow and thrive. Our dedicated coaches are committed to fostering family values, teamwork, community engagement, and individual personal growth. We cultivate a healthy mindset and empower athletes to be service-minded and others-focused, ensuring every player feels valued and supported.

"We moved to Sarasota in 2019, with five sports-minded children, and my 8th grader Samantha joined the travel ball team with the warmest welcome, excellent fundaments, and pushed to a new level of basketball. Our family instantly became part of the Sparks family that pushed our daughter to a high school and college basketball career, to be her best, on and off the court. The growth and confident I've seen in my daughter is incredible.  Her team just beat club teams from NC State & Georgia Tech.  Sam and her high school team went to state finals three years, excelled academically, and remains a part-time coach in the Sparks program, along with her grateful mom"
